    WPMU to WPMS

All Codex articles labeled WPMU need to be changed to WPMS for the name change from WordPress Multiuser to WordPress Multisite.

They also need to be changed from [[Category:WPMU]] to [[Category:WPMS]]

    Articles Needing Editing

If you are just looking for something to do, instead of mindlessly poking the WordPress Codex, check out the http://codex.wordpress.org/Category:Copyedit listing. These are articles in our special category for noting articles in need of editing, review, and fixing.

Edit away. If it looks like it’s done, remove the category and it will go off the list. Find one that needs to be in that category, please add [[Category:Copyedit]] to the bottom of the post.

    Thanks!

    Expanding Upon Learn WordPress

Learn WordPress at http://learn.wordpress.com is the guide for WordPress.com users as well as a great guide for new WordPress users. We’re working on expanding topics covered by Learn WordPress in the WordPress Lessons section of the Codex, taking the basics and digging in a little deeper to flesh it out, as is appropriate for our online manual for WordPress.

Take a look and see what they have been covering and pick a topic and let’s see what we can do with it.

Recent examples include: http://codex.wordpress.org/Comments_in_WordPress and http://codex.wordpress.org/How_to_Use_Gravatars_in_WordPress

    WordPress.tv Videos to Codex

We’ve been wanting to put videos into the Codex. We need volunteers to go through WordPress.tv and find appropriate video tutorials to embed in the Codex on appropriate articles. Up for it?

Just trying to be of help, Lorelle.
I’m a Web Developer/Designer, so I could help locate videos related to those topics,
Not sure how to go about the Codex embedding though

Your help is appreciated. If you give us some links to examples videos, we can let the docs team talk about them to make sure they are what we are looking for and then guide you through the process of adding them to the Codex. Thanks!

    WordPress Plugin Links Cleaned

    EASY

When the office WordPress Plugin Directory was launched, we made a decision to remove all the WordPress Plugin references from the WordPress Codex and replace them with either a link to the Plugin Directory, or the Plugin page on the Directory. All mentions of Plugins throughout the Codex must be found and corrected accordingly, including links to the former Plugin lists that are now gone from the Codex. If a Plugin is not in the WordPress Plugin Directory and there isn’t something similar, be cautious about linking outside of the “official” sites.

Links to WordPress Plugins that are not part of the “tutorial” but just a self-promotional link are not permitted. Please remove these.

NOTE: In general, the WordPress Codex does not link nor recommend paid/premium Plugins unless they have been vetted and verified to be compliant with WordPress GPL.

    Unwanted Images

    Easy – Maybe Permissions Based

If you have Codex permissions levels that will allow it, we need someone to go through all the images in the Codex (found on Special Pages) and remove all those self-promotion images and images uploaded for hotlinking that do not link to blog posts. The Codex will tell you what articles link to which images, so we’re looking for orphan images that have nothing to do with the Codex or WordPress and out of date and never used (useless not archival) images without attachment to links. Delete away.

    Remove the I Statements

    EASY

The WordPress Codex is about “you” not the “I.” The articles within it are not about how “I” did it, but how “you” can do it. We need folks to go through every article on the Codex and rephrase all “I” statements with “you” statements. Thanks!

Verify and Update All External Links and Resources

    EASY

Almost every article on the WordPress Codex to external link references, and many of these now lead to dead sites. If you would like to help verify and clean these up, possibly adding new updated references and resources, here are the guidelines.

    • External links must be to active sites.
    • External link resources must be directly associated with the intention and purpose of the article.
    • External links must offer the most in-depth reference material inline with the purpose of the article.
    • External links should not be used for self-promotion or unrelated content.
    • Use your best judgment. Would you rejoice at finding this additional resource to help you understand better how this works?

I’ve been doing this on an ad hoc basis. I check the links when I’m on the pages editing anyway.
